AN ACT
to declare the Ekalesia a Kelisiano
Tuvalu as the State Church of Tuvalu.

by the Parliament of Tuvalu

Short
title and commencement
1.
This Act may be cited
as the State Church (Declaration) Act
1992 and shall come into effect on such date as the Minister shall by notice
appoint.

2.
(1) The Ekalesia Kelisiano Tuvalu is
hereby declared to be the
State
Church of
Tuvalu.
(2) The State Church, on
request by the Minister, shall have the privilege of performing special services
on major national events.
(3)
Subject to subsection (2) of this section, the State
Church
shall have the same powers, rights and
privileges normally enjoyed by any other religious body under any other
law.

EXPLANATORY
MEMORANDUM
(This memorandum is not
part of the Act)
The purpose of the Act is
to declare the Ekalesia Kelisiano Tuvalu as the State Church of Tuvalu. The
State Church would on major
national events given the privilege of conducting
special services. Apart from that, the State Church would enjoy the same rights,
powers and privileges normally enjoyed by any other religious
body.
