Shop (Regulation of Hours and Employment)
Exemption Order 2009

IN exercise of the powers conferred upon me by Section 19 (1)(d) of the Shop (Regulation of Hours and Employment) Act (Cap. 100), I hereby make this Order -

Short title and Commencement

1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Shop (Regulation of Hours and Employment) Exemption Order 2009.

(2) This Order shall come into force on 23rd December 2009 for a period of five years.

Definition

2. For the purposes of this Order, Special Zones refer to the following areas:

(i) City of Suva - the shaded area in the map contained in Schedule 1 of this Order, entitled "Suva Special Zone" including both sides of the streets and roads or parts of such streets and roads that form the boundaries of the shaded area except for Usher Street and Gladstone Road;

(ii) Township of Nadi - the shaded area in the map contained in Schedule 2 of this Order, entitled "Nadi Special Zone".

Application

3.-(1) Any shop, trade or business within Special Zones shall be exempted from the application of Section 10 of the Shop (Regulation of Hours and Employment) Act (Cap 100);

(2) Any shop, trade or business within Special Zones may open for 24 hours;

(3) Notwithstanding the provisions of sub-sections (1) and (2) this Order does not apply to licensees under the Liquor Act 2006.
