General Wage Increase
(Public Officeholders and Public Servants)

AN ACT to provide for a General Wage Increase for Public Officeholders and Public Servants.

BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of Samoa in Parliament assembled as follows:-

1. Short title and commencement-(1) This Act may be cited as the General Wage Increase (Public Officeholders and Public Servants) Act 2001.

2. Increase in Wage or Salary for Public Officeholders and Public Servants-(1) Notwithstanding any other Act, Regulation, Order or Direction the wage or salary or remuneration, as the case may be, for each Public Officeholder and Public Servant referred to in the Schedule to this Act shall be increased by five (5) per centum as from the 1^st day of January 2001.

(2) Where in any Act, Regulation, Order or Direction the wage or salary or remuneration, as the case may be, for the Officeholders and Public Servants referred to in the Schedule is identified as a nominated amount the relevant Act, Regulation, Order or Direction is amended accordingly so that the nominated wage or salary or remuneration, as the case may be, is increased by five (5) per centum.

(3) For the purpose of avoiding any uncertainty the five (5) per centum increase referred to in subsection (1) does not apply to any allowances or other supplemental payments.
