FOURTH ACP-EEC CONVENTION (RATIFICATION)
ACT
No. 2 OF 1991

To ratify the Fourth
ACP-EEC Convention (hereinafter referred to as "the Convention") made between
Member States of the African, Caribbean
and Pacific Group (which Group is formed
and constituted in accordance with an agreement made by such States and signed
at Georgetown,
Guyana, on the 6th day of June, 1975, hereinafter respectively
referred to as "the ACP Group" and "the Georgetown Agreement") and
the European
Economic Community (hereinafter referred to as "the EEC") and signed on 15th
December, 1989 at Lome, Republic of
Togo.
WHEREAS:
A.
The Republic of Vanuatu is a full participating Member State of the ACP
Group;
B. The Republic of Vanuatu
has participated in the negotiations, consultations and meetings leading to the
conclusion of the Convention;
C.
The Convention was concluded and signed on 15th December 1989 at Lome, Republic
of Togo;
D. The Republic of
Vanuatu is one of the Signatory States to the
Convention;
E. Article 359(1)(b)
of the Convention requires that the Convention be ratified by the Signatory
States in conformity with their respective
constitutional
requirements;
NOW
THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED by the President
and Parliament as
follows:
RATIFICATION
OF THE CONVENTION
1. The
Convention signed on 15th December, 1989 at Lome, Republic of Togo, set out in
the Schedule hereto is hereby approved and
ratified.
PROVISIONS
OF THE CONVENTION BINDING ON
VANUATU
2. The Convention shall be
binding on the Republic of Vanuatu in accordance with its
terms.
COMMENCEMENT
3.
This Act shall come into force on the day of its publication in the
Gazette.
