Copra Inspection Act [Cap 32]

COPRA INSPECTION

COPRA INSPECTION

To provide for the inspection of copra.

PRODUCE INSPECTOR

1. There shall be appointed an officer of the Agricultural Department to be a produce inspector.

RIGHT OF ACCESS OF INSPECTOR

2. Every produce inspector shall have the right of access to any plantation, premises, vessel or any other place having copra stored therein for the purpose of inspecting the same:

Provided that the said right of access shall only be exercised after due notice of the intention to do so has been given to the owner or occupier of the plantation, premises, vessel or any other place aforesaid.

VERIFICATION OF QUALITY OF COPRA

3. Every produce inspector shall have the right to use any moisture meter or other mechanical apparatus for the purpose of verifying the quality of copra.

OFFENCE AND PENALTY

4. Any person who obstructs a produce inspector in the exercise of his lawful duties under this Act commits an offence and upon conviction shall be liable to a fine not exceeding VT20,000.
