RELIGIOUS BODIES REGISTRATION ACT (CAP.28)

Commencement [1st January 2006]

1 Short title and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Religious Bodies Registration Order 2005 and shall come into effect on 1st January 2006.

2 Interpretation

For the purpose of this Order unless otherwise specified-

"Act" means the Religious Bodies Act.

"census" means the current census of the population of Tuvalu made in

accordance with the Census Act, Cap 16.

3 Application

The Minister hereby specifies that the number of persons of the age of 18 years and above required to constitute a religious body, within the meaning of section 2 of the Act, shall not be less than two per cent of the total population of Tuvalu at the last census.

Exemption

For the avoidance of doubt the religious bodies already registered under the Act are exempt from this Order.
