AN ACT TO AMEND THE WASTE MANAGEMENT ACT 2005

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1 Short Title

(1) This Act may be cited as the Waste Management (Amendment) Act 2014.

(2) In this Act, the Waste Management Act 2005 as amended, shall be referred to as the Principal Act.

2 Section 2 amended

Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended –

(a) by appealing the word and definition of "Department" and replacing it with the following –

""Ministry" means the Ministry responsible for the environment;"; and

(b) in the definition of Minister by deleting the words "Minister of Environment" and replacing them with "Minister responsible for the environment".

3 Reference to Department replaced

The Principal Act is amended in the English version only by repealing the word "Department" wherever appearing and replacing them with "Ministry".
