Prisons (Amendment) Act 1999

TONGA

PRISONS AMENDMENT ACT 1999
No. 15 of 1999.

I assent,

TAUFA'AHAU TUPOU IV,
27th September, 1999.

AN ACT
TO AMEND THE PRISONS ACT

[21st September, 1999].

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Prisons Amendment Act 1999.

(2) The Prisons Act (Cap 36), as amended, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

2. Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting all the words after "prison officer" and substituting the following:

"means the Superintendent of Prisons or any officer employed in any prison."

Passed by the Legislative Assembly this 21st day of September, 1999.

(2) 'Oku ui 'i he Lao ni 'a e Lao ki he Ngaahi 'Api Popula (Vahe 36), 'i hono fakatonutonu, ko e Tefito 'i Lao.

2. 'Oku fakatonutonu 'a e kupu 2 'o e Tefito'i Lao 'aki hono tamate'i 'a e kotoa 'o e ngaahi fo'i lea hili 'a e ngaahi fo'i lea "'Ofisa 'o e 'Api Popula" pea fetongi 'aki 'eni;

"'oku 'uhinga ki he Pule 'o e ngaahi 'Api Popula pe ko ha 'ofisa pe 'oku fakangaue'i 'i ha 'api popula".

Na'e fakahoko 'e he Fale Aled 'i he 'aho 21 ni 'o Sepitema, 1999.
