DIVORCE (AMENDMENT) ACT 1996

AN ACT
TO AMEND THE DIVORCE ACT

[1st July, 1996].

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Divorce (Amendment) Act 1996.

(2) The Divorce Act (Cap. 29) is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

2. Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting paragraph (a) and substituting the following:

"(a) are 18 years of age or under that age and are dependant upon the parties to the marriage for support; or"

3. Section 3(b) of the Principal Act is repealed.

Passed by the Legislative Assembly this 1st day of July, 1996.

"(a) 'oku nau ta'u 18 pe si'i hifo 'i he ta'u ko is pea 'oku fakafalala honau tauhi 'i he ongo fa'ahi ki he mali; pe"

3. 'Oku fakapekia 'a e Kupu 3(b) 'o e Tefito'i Lao.
