Practice Direction No. l of 1993

Service of Documents

From 1st February 1993 when any document is served pursuant to O 11 rr 2 and 3 of the Supreme Court Rules or O 6 rr 1-4 of the Divorce Rules, a certificate of service in the form below must be completed by the person effecting service (whether law practitioner, service officer or any other person) and filed in the Supreme Court office at Nuku'alofa within 3 days of service where service was effected at Tongatapu, and within 14 days of service where Service was effected elsewhere within the Kingdom. The filing of such a certificate will be deemed to be endorsement of the original document under O 11 r 3 and O 6 r 4.

When. service is by the Court on a practising lawyer by placing it in the correspondence rack, an endorsement on the file cover in the following form and signed by the clerk will be evidence of due service.

"Placed in .letter rack number ................. at ........... am/pm on (date) ..."
