ARRANGEMENT OF SECTIONS.

Medical Registration By-laws 1984

MADE under the Medical Registration Act 1980.

  1. PROCEDURE AT MEETINGS.

(1) The Board shall cause minutes of its meetings to be recorded and kept.

(2) A decision of the Board at a meeting shall be in writing certified by the Chairman or by two members of the Board.

  1. CATEGORIES OF MEDICAL, ETC., SPECIALITIES.

(1) For the purposes of Section 26 of the Act, the categories of medical and surgical specialities are as specified in Part 1 of Schedule 2.

(2) For the purposes of Section 35 of the Act, the categories of dental specialities are as specified in Part 2 of Schedule 2.

(3) For the purposes of Section 39 of the Act, the categories of allied health workers are as specified in Part 3 of Schedule 2.

  1. REGISTERS.

For the purposes of Section 11 of the Act, a separate register for each type of registration shall be in Form 1.

  1. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION.

A certificate of registration shall be in Form 2.

  1. APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION.

An application for registration shall be in Form 3.

  1. APPLICATION, ETC., FOR LICENCE TO CONDUCT HOSPITAL.

(1) An application for permission to conduct a hospital shall be in Form 4.

(2) A licence to conduct a hospital shall be in Form 5.

  1. FEES.

(1) In this section, “registration” includes registration, provisional registration, temporary registration, probationary registration and renewal of registration.

(2) Fees are as specified in Schedule 3.

(3) The fee payable on the first application for registration is in respect of the period from the date of the application to 31 December next following.

(4) The fee for renewal of registration is payable annually in advance and not later than 31 December for the next succeeding year.

(5) The Medical Registrar shall furnish a written statement to the Board before 28 February in each year notifying the Board of the name of any person who has failed to pay the fee for registration within 30 days of the date specified in Subsection (4).

  1. REASON FOR REMOVAL OF NAME FROM REGISTER, ETC.

(1) Where the Medical Registrar removes the name of a person from a register in accordance with Section 15 of the Act, he shall specify the reason for the removal in the register.

(2) The Medical Registrar shall not restore the name of a person to a register except in accordance with Section 16 of the Act.

  1. RESTORATION OF NAME TO REGISTER.

(1) Subject to Subsection (2), the fee for restoration of a person’s name to a register is the same as the amount payable on application for registration.

(2) Where, following an appeal under Section 52 of the Act, the Court orders the restoration of a person’s name to a register, no fee is payable for that restoration.

  1. DUPLICATE CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION.

Where the Medical Registrar is satisfied that a certificate of registration has been lost, defaced or destroyed, he may, on application by the person named in the certificate and on payment of the prescribed fee specified in Schedule 3, issue a duplicate certificate.
