ARRANGEMENT OF SECTIONS.

INDEPENDENT STATE OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA.


AN ACT

entitled

Gaming Machine (Amendment) Act 2001,

Being an Act to amend the Gaming Machine Act 1993,

MADE by the National Parliament –

(a) in respect of Section 10 to be deemed to have come into operation on 1 January 2001; and

(b) in respect of Section 13 to be deemed to have come into operation on 15 September 1993; and

(c) in respect of the remainder – to come in to operation on certification.

  1. COMPLIANCE WITH CONSTITUTIONAL REQUIREMENTS..

(1) This Act, to the extend that it regulates or restricts a right of freedom referred to in Subdivision III.3.C (qualified rights) of the Constitution, namely the right to privacy conferred by Section 49 of the Constitution, is a law that is made for the purpose of giving effect to the public interest in public order.

(2) For the purposes of Section 41 of the Organic Law on Provincial Governments and Local-level Governments, it is hereby declared that this Act relates to a matter of national interest.

2 - 14. The amendment effected by this section has been incorporated into the Gaming Machine Act 1993.
