2006, Act No. 283

AN ACT to amend the Aviation Crimes Act 1973 to ensure compliance with the Protocol to the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against the Safety of Civil Aviation, done at Montreal on 24 February 1988.

1. Title

This Act is the Aviation Crimes Amendment Act 2006 and is part of the Aviation Crimes Act 1973 ("the principal Act").

2. Other offences relating to aircraft

Section 5 of the principal Act is amended by adding after paragraph (f), the word "or" and then the following paragraphs:

(g) Performs an act of violence against a person at an airport serving international civil aviation that causes or is likely to cause serious injury or death; or

(h) Destroys or seriously damages the facilities of an airport serving international civil aviation or an aircraft not in service located there or disrupts the services of an airport.
