Enacted by the Parliament of Nauru as follows:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as Naoero Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2015.

2 Commencement

This Act commences upon certification by the Speaker.

3 Act Amended

The Schedule amends the Naoero Citizenship Act 2005.

SCHEDULE - AMENDMENT OF NAOERO CITIZENSHIP ACT 2005

[1] Amendment of section 5

After section 5(1) insert new section 5 (1) A:

'A person who:

(a) is born in Nauru to parents who hold the citizenship of another country and has been a resident in Nauru for at least 20 consecutive years; or

(b) is born in Nauru to parents who hold the citizenship of another country and is adopted under the laws of Nauru by a citizen of Nauru; or

(c) a man who has been married to a Nauruan woman for at least 10 years and has spent those 10 years as a resident in Nauru;

is eligible to apply for admission to be a Nauruan.
