Wireless Telegraphy Regulation 1907

THE WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY REGULATION 1907

No. 5 of 1907


In the name of his Majesty, EDWARD VII., of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and of the British Dominions beyond the Seas King, Emperor of India, &c., &c., &c.

KING'S REGULATION

(Made by His Majesty's High Commissioner for the Western Pacific, in accordance with the provisions of the Pacific Order in Council, 1893)

TO REGULATE THE INSTALLATION OF WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY IN THE WESTERN PACIFIC.

Installation without licence prohibited.
1. IT shall not be lawful for any person to use or establish in any of the Protectorates Islands or Places within the jurisdiction of the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific and specified in the Schedule hereto any apparatus or installation for the purpose of electrical communication by wireless telegraphy without a license first obtained from such High Commissioner such license to be granted on such terms and conditions as the High Commissioner aforesaid may from time to time prescribe.

Penalty for breach of Regulation.
2. Any person offending against the provisions of the preceding section or failing to comply with the terms and conditions of a licence when granted by the High Commissioner under the provisions of this Regulation shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding one hundred pounds and to forfeit any apparatus or installation used or established for the purpose aforementioned.

New Hebrides excluded.
Short title.
3. This Regulation which shall not apply to the New Hebrides or to the Banks and Torres Islands, may be cited as "The Wireless Telegraphy Regulation 1907."

THE SCHEDULE.

The British Solomon Islands Protectorate.
The Gilbert and Ellice Islands Protectorate including Ocean Island.
The Union (Tokelau) Islands.
The Phoenix Islands.
Fanning Island.
Washington Island.
Christmas Island.
Pitcairn Island.


All other islands in the Western Pacific not being within the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth or of any of the States of the Commonwealth of Australia or of the Dominion of New Zealand or of any civilised Power.

Published and exhibited in the Public Office of the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific this sixth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and seven.
