REPUBLIC OF FIJI ISLANDS


PUBLIC SAFETY ACT

EXTENSION OF THE PUBLIC EMERGENCY REGULATIONS 2009
________________


WHEREAS the Public Emergency Regulations 2009 were made pursuant to the Public Safety Act on 10th day of April 2009 and came into force at 1200 hours on that day; and


WHEREAS the Public Emergency Regulations 2009 provided that they be valid for 30 days from their commencement and that they may be extended thereafter,


NOW THEREFORE, I, Ratu Josefa lloilovatu Uluivuda, President and Commander in Chief of the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces, by virtue of the powers conferred on me by the Public Safety Act, hereby extend the Public Emergency Regulations 2009 for a further period of 30 days with effect from 1200 hours on 9th day of May 2009.


GIVEN under my hand this 8th day of May 2009.
