TELECOMMUNICATIONS
ACT (AMENDMENT) DECREE
1988

IN
exercise of the powers vested in me as President and Commander-in-Chief of the
Republic of Fiji and acting in accordance with the
advice of the Cabinet, I
hereby make the following Decree-
Short title
1.
This Decree may be cited as the Telecommunications Act (Amendment) Decree
1988.
Amendment of Section 9-Regulations
2.
Section 9 (1) of the Telecommunications Act is amended as
follows-
(a) by substituting a semi-colon for the coma at the end of paragraph (1); and
(b) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (1)-
“(m) the approval by the Permanent Secretary of privately owned equipment for connection to telecommunication lines, the conditions and manner of its use and the charges and fees to be paid in respect of that equipment.”.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS ACT (AMENDMENT) DECREE 1988
OBJECTS AND REASONS
(These do not form part of the Bill and are intended only to indicate its general effect)
1.
This Decree inserts in the Telecommunications Act another matter on which the
Minister for Communications, Transport and Works may
make
Regulations–namely the connection of private owned equipment to
telecommunication
lines.
2.
The subject-matter of this Decree comes within the sphere of responsibility of
the Minister for Communications, Transport and Works.
