Sugar Industry (Amendment) Decree 1989

REPUBLIC OF FIJI

DECREE NO. 8

SUGAR INDUSTRY (AMENDMENT) DECREE, 1989

A DECREE TO AMEND THE SUGAR INDUSTRY ACT

IN exercise of the powers vested in me as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of Fiji and acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, I hereby make the following Decree-

Short title

1. This Decree may be cited as the Sugar Industry (Amendment) Decree, 1989.

Section 35 amended

2. Section 35 of the Sugar Industry Act is amended by repealing subsection (4) and substituting the following-

"(4) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (3), the second general election under this Part shall be held within the 14 days next preceding the expiration of the five years commencing on the date on which the first general election was held.".
