Sugar Industry Act (Amendment) Decree 1990

REPUBLIC OF FIJI

DECREE NO.17

SUGAR INDUSTRY ACT (AMENDMENT) DECREE 1990

IN exercise of the powers vested in me as the person appointed to perform the functions of the office of the President of the Republic of Fiji and acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet. I hereby make the following Decree-

Short title

1. This Decree may be cited as the Sugar Industry Act (Amendment) Decree, 1990.

Section 35 of the Sugar Industry Act amended

2.Section 35(4) of the Sugar Industry Act as amended by Section 2 of the Sugar Industry (Amendment) Decree, 1989 is amended by erasing the full stop after the word ‘held’ in the last line of Sub-section 4 and replacing it with a semi-colon and by the addition of the following proviso immediately after the semi colon-

“Provided that in the event that the second general election is for any reason unable to be held within the time specified, it shall be held within nine months from the end of fifth year”.

3. This Decree shall be deemed to have come into force on the 14th day of April 1990.
