RATIFICATION AND VALIDATION OF THE DECLARATION AND DECREES OF THE FIJI MILITARY GOVERNMENT DECREE 2007


IN exercise of the powers conferred upon the Interim Government and upon the exercise of my own deliberative judgment as President of the Republic of the Fiji Islands as to what is in the best good of the beloved people of Fiji, and by the executive authority of the State in accordance with clause 85 of the Constitution and all such other powers as may appertain, and with the approval of Cabinet, I, Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda, President of the Republic of the Fiji Islands hereby make this Decree.


Short title


1. This Decree may be cited as the Ratification and Validation of the Declaration and Decrees of the Fiji Military Government Decree 2007, and comes into immediate force upon its enactment.


Ratification, Validation and Confirmation of Decrees etc


2. All Declarations, Decrees and Decisions made by the Fiji Military Government, or by its Commander or other Military Officers or by other persons for and on its behalf, on 5th December 2006 up to and including 4th January 2007 (whereupon the executive authority of the State was reinvested in me as President) are hereby unconditionally ratified, validated and confirmed in every respect having full effect in law and remaining in full effect in law and all persons should govern themselves by these laws accordingly.

3. Without prejudice to the generality of section 2, the following appointments are confirmed as having been terminated with effect as from the times of the communication of their respective terminations and in any case are deemed to have been terminated on 15th January 2007.

(c) Mr Moses Driver, Deputy Commissioner of Police


(d) Mr Aisea Taoka, Commissioner of Prisons

(f) Mr Semesa Karavaki, Supervisor of Elections


(g) Mr Ilaitia Tamata, Legal Officer, Prime Ministers Office


(h) Mr Sakeasi Ditoka, Private Secretary to Prime Minister


(i) Arli Litia Qionibaravi, Chief Executive Officer, Fijian Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Provincial Development


(j) Doctor Lesi Korovavala, Chief Executive Officer, Ministry of Home Affairs


(k) Ms Mary Chapman, Secretary-General to Parliament


(l) Mr Anare Jale, Chief Executive Officer, Public Service Commission


(m) Mr Jioji Kotobalavu, Chief Executive Officer, Prime Minister's Office


(n) Mr Pene Nonu, Secretary, Prime Minister's Office


(o) Mr Joji Matai, Third Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade


(p) Mr Paula Uluinaceva, Chief Executive Officer, Ministry of Finance and National Planning
