AN ACT

TO AMEND THE PARLIAMENTARY RETIREMENT ALLOWANCES DECREE, 1989.

ENACTED by the Parliament of Fiji -

Short title and Interpretation

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Retirement Allowances (Amendment) Act 1992.

(2) In this Act the Parliamentary Retirement Allowances Decree, 1989 is referred to as the "principal Decree".

Section 8 of the principal Decree amended

2. Section 8 of the principal Decree is amended by -

(a) repealing subsection (2);

(b) repealing subsection (3);

(c) inserting a new subsection (2) as follows -

"(2) An allowance payable under Section 6 of this Decree to a past Member shall not cease if a past Member again becomes the holder of a qualifying office.

Provided that the allowance will be reviewed when that Member retires again and on such occasion the allowance payable would be adjusted to conform with the formula set out in this Decree".

Passed by the House of Representatives this first day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand, nine hundred and ninety-two.

Passed by the Senate this fourteenth day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand, nine hundred and ninety-two.
