REPUBLIC OF FIJI

GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF FIJI DECREE NO. 26

PENSIONS (AMENDMENT) DECREE, 1989

A DECREE TO AMEND THE PENSIONS ACT

IN exercise of the powers vested in me as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of Fiji and acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, I hereby make the following Decree-

Short Title

1. This Decree may be cited as the Pensions (Amendment) Decree, 1989.

Interpretation

2. In this Decree, the Pensions Act, 1983 is referred to as “the principal Act”

Section 9(1)(a) amended

3. Paragraph (a) of subsection (1) of section 9 of the principal Act is amended by omitting the words "sixty" and substituting the word "fifty-five".

Commencement

4. This Decree shall be deemed, to have come into force on 1 May 1988.

Made this 7th day of September 1989.
