DECREE NO. 5

LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT (AMENDMENT) DECREE 1990

IN exercise of the powers vested in me as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of Fiji and acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet. I hereby make the following Decree-

Short title

1. This Decree may be cited as the Local Government Act (Amendment) Decree, 1990.

Section 71 A of the Local Government Act
repealed and substituted

2. Section 71A of the Local Government Act is repealed and replaced with the following-

“Meaning of registered lease

71A. In this Part “registered lease” means a lease or licence granted by–

(a) the Native Land Trust Board under the Native Land Trust Act; or

(b) the Director of Lands under the State Lands Act; or

(c) the Housing Authority or held in the name of the Public Rental Board pursuant to Section 33 of the Housing (Amendment) Decree 1989,

and ‘registered lessee’ means the lessee or licensee under any such lease or licence”

Commencement

3. This Decree shall come into force on 1st day of March 1990
