REPUBLIC OF FIJI ISLANDS


INTERIM GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE FIJI ISLANDS

JUDICIAL TRIBUNALS (PRESCRIBED COUNTRIES) PROMULGATION 2007 (PROMULGATION No.32 of 2007)


IN exercise of the powers conferred upon the Interim Government, and upon the exercise of my own deliberate judgment as President of the Republic of the Fiji Islands as to what is best and good for the people of Fiji, and by the executive authority of the State in accordance with section 85 of the Constitution and such other powers as may appertain, and with the advice of Cabinet, I Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda, make this Promulgation -


TO PROVIDE FOR AND TO PRESCRIBE COUNTRIES FOR THE
PURPOSES OF SECTION 138(3) OF THE CONSTITUTION


Short title & commencement


1: This Promulgation may be cited as the Judicial Tribunals (Prescribed Countries) Promulgation 2007, and shall come into force on the 18th day of September 2007.


Prescribed Countries


2. The following countries are prescribed for the purposes of section 138(3)(a)(i) of the Constitution -


(a) Australia;


(b) Canada;


(c) New Zealand;


(d) Papua New Guinea;


(e) Samoa;


(f) Sri Lanka;


(g) Tonga;


(h) United Kingdom;


(i) Singapore;


(j) Malaysia;


(k) Hong Kong;


(l) India; and


(m) Any country which is at the time of the appointment a member of the Commonwealth of nations.
