DECREE NO. 31

JUDGES' REMUNERATION AND EMOLUMENTS (AMENDMENT) DECREE, 1989

IN exercise of the powers vested in me as the person appointed to perform the functions of the office of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of Fiji and acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, I hereby make the following Decree-

Short title

1. This Decree may be cited as the Judges' Remuneration and Emoluments (Amendment) Decree 1989.

Interpretation

2. In this Decree the Judges' Remuneration and Emoluments Act means the "principal Act".

Section 2 amended

3. Section 2 of the principal Act as amended by the judges' Remuneration and Emoluments (Amendment) Decree, 1988, is amended in subsection (1) by-

(a) repealing the expression "$39,698" and replacing it by the expression "$42,079";

(b) repealing the expression "$35;764" and replacing it by the expression "$37,909"; and

(c) repealing the expression "$33,764" and replacing it by the expression "$35,789".

Coming into force

4. This Decree shall be deemed to have come into force on 1 July, 1989.
