JUDGES' REMUNERATION AND EMOLUMENTS ACT (AMENDMENT) DECREE, 1991

IN exercise of the powers vested in me as President of the Sovereign Democratic Republic of Fiji and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, I hereby make the following Decree-

Short title

1. This Decree may he cited as the Judges’ Remuneration and Emoluments Act (Amendment) Decree, 1991.

Interpretation

2. In this Decree the Judges’ Remuneration and Emoluments Act is referred to as the “principal Act”.

Section 2 of the principal Act amended

3. Subsection (1) of section 2 of the principal Act as amended by section 3 of the Judges Remuneration and Emoluments Act (Amendment) Decree 1990, is hereby amended as follows-

(a) in relation to the salary of the Chief Justice, by the deletion of the expression and figures “$44,604” and the substitution thereof of the expression and figures “$46,834”;

(b) in relation to the salary of the Resident justice of Appeal, by the deletion of the expression and figures “$40,184” and the substitution thereof of the expression and figures “$42,193”; and

(c) in relation to the salary of a Judge, by the deletion of the expression and figures “37,937” and the substitution thereof of the expression and figures “$39,834”.

Coming into force

4. This Decree shall be deemed to have come into force on 1 July 1990.
