INCOME TAX (AMENDMENT) DECREE, 1989

A DECREE TO AMEND THE INCOME TAX ACT

IN exercise of the powers vested in me as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of Fiji and acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister and the. Cabinet, I hereby make the following Decree-

Short title

1. This Decree may be cited as the Income Tax (Amendment) Decree, 1989.

Section 17-Income Tax Act amended

2. Section 17 of the Income Tax Act (Cap. 201) is amended by substituting a semi-colon for the full-stop at the end of paragraph (50) and adding the following paragraph immediately thereafter-

"(51) the interest and other charges payable to the Commonwealth Development Corporation by the Fiji Development Bank in respect of the loan of up to five million pounds sterling raised by the Fiji Development Bank from the Commonwealth Development Corporation for the purpose of assisting the Fiji Development Bank in its intended programme of advances by way of loans to persons in Fiji engaged in small-scale farming and fishing enterprises for the purposes of those enterprises.".
