Housing (Amendment) Decree 1991

DECREE NO. 60

HOUSING (AMENDMENT) DECREE, 1991

A DECREE TO AMEND THE HOUSING ACT

IN exercise of the powers vested in me as President of the Sovereign Democratic Republic of Fiji and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minster and the Cabinet, I hereby make the following Decree-

Short title

1. This Decree may be cited as the Housing (Amendment) Decree 1991.

Interpretation

2. In this Decree, unless the context otherwise requires:

"Government" means the Government of the Republic of Fiji;

"the Act" means the Housing Act;

"Housing Authority" means the Housing Authority established under the provisions of Section 3 of the Housing Act (Cap. 267);

"Public Rental Board" means the Public Rental Board established under the provisions of Section 31(1) of the Housing (Amendment) Decree 1989.

Section 31 of the Act amended

3. Section 31 of the Act is amended -

(a) in subsection (3) by inserting a full stop after the word "Minister" and deleting the words "after consultation with the Authority";

(b) in subsection (6) by deleting the word "Authority" and substituting the word "Minister";

(c) in subsection (7) by deleting the word "Authority" and substituting the word "minister".

Section 33 of the Act amended

4. Section 33 of the Act is amended:-

(a) in subsection (2) by inserting the words "Board and the" between the words "the" and "Minister" on the first line;

(b) in subsection (3) by inserting the words "Board and the" between the words "the" and "Minister" on the first line.

Section 36 of the Act amended

5. Section 36 of the Act is amended by deleting the words "the Authority and" on the first line.

Commencement

6. This Decree shall come into force on the day it is signed.

Made this 4th day of December 1991.
