DECREE NO.6

EXPORT-IMPORT BANK OF THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA LOAN DECREE, 1989

A DECREE TO AUTHORISE THE GOVERNMENT TO RAISE FROM THE EXPORT-IMPORT BANK OF THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA A LOAN OF UP TO AN AMOUNT EQUIVALENT TO TWO MILLION AMERICAN DOLLARS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING EQUIPMENT

IN exercise of the powers vested in me as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of Fiji, and acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, I hereby make the following Decree-

Short title

1. This Decree may be cited as the Export and Import Bank of the Republic of China Loan Decree, 1989.

Interpretation

2. In this Decree, unless the context otherwise requires-

"dollar" means a dollar in the currency of the United States of America;

"Government" means the Government of the Republic of Fiji;

"loan" means the loan authorised by section 3 of this Decree;

"Minister" means the Minister of the Government responsible for finance.

Authority to raise loan

3. The Minister is hereby authorised to raise from the Export and Import Bank of the Republic of China a loan of up to an amount equivalent to two million dollars for the purpose of financing the purchase of equipment for use by the Government.

Loan to be evidence by instrument

4. The loan shall be evidenced by an instrument under the hand of the Minister or such other person as the Minister may by writing under his hand so empower.
