PURSUANT to Section 55 of the Births and Death Registration Act 1973, His Excellency the Queen's Representative, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following Regulations:

REGULATIONS


1. Title and commencement - (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Births and Deaths Registration (Fees) Regulations 1998.


(2) These regulations shall come into force on the 1st day of January 1999.


2. Fees - There shall be paid to the Registrar-General or, as the case requires, to a Registrar, for each of the matters specified in the Schedule to these regulations, the fees specified for in the Schedule.


3. Value Added Tax - The fees specified in the Schedule to these regulations are inclusive of value added tax under the Value Added Tax Act 1997.


4. Revocation - The Second Schedule to the Births and Deaths Registration Regulations 1975 as amended by the Births and Deaths Registration Amendment Regulations 1990 is hereby consequentially revoked.

SCHEDULE


Fees to be paid to the Registrar-General and to Registrars under the Births and Deaths Registration Act 1973 ("the Act")



$
For every certified true copy of an entry in a register book kept in a Registrar's office, and for every certified copy of an entry in the office of the Registrar-General (when correct year given)

For every certificate of date of birth or death when correct year given, including any certificate issued pursuant to section 44 of the Act

For every certified copy of any document in the custody of the Registrar-General's office

For search in any register book or index or records kept in the office of the Registrar-General or of a Registrar in respect of each name or entry searched in respect of any year

For inspection of entry when correct year given

For verification of items in excess of 3 in an entry of registration of birth or death, per item
2
For registration of births after 2 months

For registration of birth by the Registrar-General under section 14 of the Act, including issue of certificate of date of birth

For registration, addition, or change of first or Christian name under section 17 of the Act
15
For registration of a change of name under section 18 of the Act in respect of every person whose name has been changed:

Where the birth has been registered in the Cook Islands

Where the birth has not been registered in the Cook Islands
