An Act to repeal the Rarotonga Island Council, the Rarotonga Local Government Act 1997

(12^th November 2007

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

1. Short Title and Commencement - (1) This Act may be cited as the Rarotonga Local Government (Repeal) Act 2007.

(2) This Act shall come into force on the 8^th day of February 2008.

2. Repeal and Revocation - The Acts and Regulations contained in the Schedule are hereby repealed and revoked respectively.

3. Financial -Notwithstanding anything contained in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development Act 1995-96, the Financial Secretary is hereby authorised, for the financial year 2007-2008, to transfer the balance of Output 14.7 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs appropriation (Rarotonga Community Development and Governance) for expenditure by that part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs concerned with the cleaning of roadsides, streams, and road drainage on Rarotonga.

4. Consequential - Any reference to a Vaka Council in any enactment shall be deemed to be a reference to such person, group of persons or organisation as may be determined by Cabinet from time to time.
