An Act to amend the Aged, Destitute and Infirm Persons Relief Act 1966

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. Short Title and commencement

(1) This Act may be cited as the Aged, Destitute and Infirm Persons Relief Amendment Act 1983 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Aged, Destitute and Infirm Persons Relief Act 1966 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act").

(2) This Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the 2nd day of December 1983.

2. Rate of Pension

Section 5 of the principal Act (as substituted by Section 2 of the Aged, Destitute and Infirm Persons Relief Amendment Act 1982) is hereby repealed and the following section substituted:-

"5. Rate of Pension
Pensions shall be paid at the rate of $50 every month."

3. Provision for Relief

Section 15 of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting from subsection (5) (as amended by section 3 of the Aged, Destitute and Infirm Persons Amendment Act 1982) the words "$10.25 every fourteen days", and substituting the words "$25.00 every month".

4. Repeal

The Aged, Destitute and Infirm Persons Amendment Act 1982 is hereby repealed.
