GOVERNMENT (AMENDMENT)
ACT NO. 2 OF 2008

An Act to amend the Government Act [CAP 243].

Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows:

1 Amendment

The Government Act [CAP 243] is amended as set out in the Schedule.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on the day on which it is published on the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

AMENDMENTS OF THE GOVERNMENT ACT [CAP 243]

After section 14

Insert

"14A DCO to consider all Council submissions and issues submitted to Council

(1) The DCO must consider all Council submissions and issues submitted to Council.

(2) The DCO must not in any way, reject or refuse to consider, or withdraw a Council submission or issue to be submitted to Council.

14B Council may consider submissions or issues that require urgent attention without DCO advise

The Council may consider a submission or issue submitted to it, without the advice of the DCO on such submission or issue if the submission or issue needs urgent attention of the Council."

2 Paragraph 16(c)

Repeal the paragraph.

3 Paragraphs 16 (d),(e), (f) (g),(h) and (i)

Reletter the paragraphs as (c), (d),(e), (f), (g) and (h)
