DECENTRALIZATION AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT REGIONS (AMENDMENT) ACT NO. 7 OF 2007

Assent: 31/05/2007
Commencement: 23/07/2007

An Act to amend the Decentralization and Local Government Regions Act No. 1 of 1994.

Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows-

1 Amendment

The Decentralization and Local Government Regions Act No. 1 of 1994 is amended as set out in the Schedule.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on the day on which it is published in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

AMENDMENTS OF THE DECENTRALIZATION AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT REGIONS ACT NO. 1 OF 1994

1 Subsections 8(2) and 8(3)

Delete "twenty one days," substitute "ten days".

2 Subsections 13(3), 14(2) and 18L (3)

After "public servant" insert "or another person with suitable qualification or experience".

3 At the end of subsection 18B (1)

Add

"(j) a person who is in default of payment of any rates, charges, imprests or other debts due to the Council for a period exceeding 2 months after the rates, charges, imprests or other debts has become due."

4 Section 27K

Repeal the section.
