COASTAL TRADING (CONTROL) (AMENDMENT)
ACT NO. 30 OF 1998

An Act to amend the Coastal Trading (Control) Act [CAP 113].

BE IT ENACTED by the President and Parliament as follows:

AMENDMENTS OF THE COASTAL TRADING (CONTROL) ACT

1. The Coastal Trading (Control) Act [CAP 113] is amended as set out in the Schedule.

COMMENCEMENT

2. This Act commences on the day on which it is published in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

Coastal Trading (Control) Act [Cap 113]

1. Section 1

(a) Insert the following definition:

““Authority” means the Vanuatu Maritime Authority established by the Vanuatu Maritime Authority Act No 29 of 1998; ”;

(b) Definition of Minister

Omit “transport”, substitute “the Register of Ships and Seafarers within the meaning of the Vanuatu Maritime Authority Act No. 29 of 1998;”.

2. Section 2

Omit “given”, substitute “granted”.

3. Subsection 8(1)

Omit “any officer holding or acting in any office of the public service”, substitute “any person”.

4. In all sections (except sections 1 and 10):

(a) Omit “Minister” (wherever occurring), substitute “Authority”;

(b) Omit “he” (wherever occurring), substitute “it”;

(c) Omit “him” (wherever occurring), substitute “it”;

(d) Omit “his” (wherever occurring), substitute “its”.
