AGRICULTURAL FEES AMENDMENT ACT
NO. 6 OF 2002

An Act to amend the Agricultural Fees Act [CAP 74]

Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows-

1 Amendments

The Agricultural Fees Act [CAP 74] is amended as set out in the Schedule.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on the date on which it is published in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

AMENDMENTS OF THE AGRICULTURAL FEES ACT [CAP 74]

1. Long title

Delete the long title, substitute

“To establish fees and charges for services relating to agriculture and livestock”.

2. Before section 1

Insert

“1A Interpretation

In this Act:

Department means the Department responsible for agriculture and livestock.

officer means:

(a) any officer of the Department; or

(b) any other individual authorised in writing by the Minister to perform the functions of an officer of the Department for the purposes of this Act.

person includes any statutory body, company or association or body of persons corporate or unincorporate.”.

3. Paragraph 1(a)

Delete “official services rendered to private individuals by officers of the department of agriculture and livestock”, substitute “services rendered to any person by any officer”.

BILL FOR THE AGRICULTURAL FEES
AMENDMENT ACT NO. 6 OF 2002

Explanatory Note

The purpose of this Bill is to amend the Agricultural Fees Act so that it applies to companies, statutory bodies and other organisations as well as individuals.

The Bill also updates the definitions of Department and officer.
