DEFINITION OF LAND BOUNDARIES

To provide for defining land boundaries.

INTERPRETATION

1. In this Act-

"Minister" means the Minister responsible for land.


NOTICE TO ASCERTAIN OR DEFINE BOUNDARIES

2. Whenever it shall appear desirable to the Minister that the boundary of any block of land or of any portion thereof should be more clearly defined or ascertained, the Minister may serve or cause to be served by any person authorised by him notice on the owner or occupier of any such land requiring him within the period specified in such notice, to clear, define, or otherwise ascertain the boundary of the said land to the satisfaction of an official surveyor (or other qualified person) specified in the said notice.


OFFENCES

3. Any person who fails to comply with the terms of any notice or who prevents or obstructs the execution of any of the terms of the said notice issued under the provisions of this Act shall be guilty of an offence.


MINISTER MAY TAKE STEPS TO EXECUTE WORK REQUIRED BY NOTICE

4. In the event of failure to comply with the terms of any notice served under this Act the Minister may take or order to be taken such steps as may be required to ensure the execution of any work required by such notice, the cost of which shall be recoverable from the person concerned. Any person who prevents or obstructs the execution of any work as aforesaid shall be guilty of an offence.


PENALTY

5. Offences against this Act shall be punishable on conviction by a fine not exceeding VT30,000 and imprisonment for a term not exceeding 1 month or by one or other of such penalties.
