ELECTORAL PROVISIONS (PARLIAMENT) AMENDMENT ACT 1999

AN ACT to amend Schedule 1 to the Electoral Provisions (Parliament) Act (Cap. 102) to increase the number of members of Parliament in two of the electoral districts.


ENACTED by the Parliament of Tuvalu-


Short title and commencement


1. This Act may be cited as the Electoral Provisions (Parliament) (Amendment) Act 1999 and shall come into effect on such date as the Minister shall by notice appoint.


Amendment of Schedule 1


2. Schedule 1 to the Electoral Provisions (Parliament) Act is amended-


(a) by repealing "1" and substituting "2" under the third column headed "No. of Elected Representatives" for Nanumaga; and


(b) by repealing "1" and substituting "2" under the third column headed "No. of Elected Representatives" for Nukufetau.

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM
(This memorandum is not part of this Act)


The purpose of this Act is to increase the number of elected representatives of Parliament for the islands of Namumaga and Nukufetau from one to two each. This will be effected by amending Schedule 1 of the Electoral Provisions (Parliament) Act (cap. 102).
