ADOPTION OF CHILDREN AMENDMENT ACT 2015

AN ACT TO AMEND THE ADOPTION OF CHILDREN ACT TO ALLOW TUVALU NATIVES AND CITIZENS OF TUVALU TO ADOPT CHILDREN UNDER THE ACT

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Adoption of Children Amendment Act.

2 Commencement

This Act shall come into force on a date appointed by the Minister.

3 Amendment to section 5
(1) Section 5 of the Act is repealed and replaced with the following words:

"The Court shall make an adoption order if at the time of applying to the Court for the order-

(a) the child; or

(b) at least one of the applicants,

is a Tuvalu native and a citizen of Tuvalu."
