AN ACT TO AMEND THE GOVERNMENT ACT

BE IT ENACTED by the King and the Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. Short Title

(1) This Act may be cited as the Government (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 2010.

(2) In this Act, the Government Act (Cap. 3), as amended, is referred to as the Principal Act.

2. Section 22 amended - Minister of Lands

Section 22 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting the following proviso at the end of the section:

"Provided that, subject to the Constitution, after the general elections in 2010, the Minister of Lands shall be appointed from one of the representatives of the nobles, and provided further that this proviso shall cease to apply at the expiry of the first four year session of the Legislative Assembly."

Passed in the Legislative Assembly this 28th day of September 2010.
