BANK OF TONGA (AMENDMENT) ACT 2001

AN ACT
TO AMEND THE BANK OF TONGA ACT

[11th September, 2001.]

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Bank of Tonga (Amendment) Act 2001.

(2) The Bank of Tonga Act (Cap. 105), as amended, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

2. Section 4(2) of the Principal Act is amended by -

(i) deleting the word "initially";

(ii) deleting the words "Bank of Hawaii International Inc." besides "A shares" and substituted with "Westpac Banking Corporation (formerly Bank of New South Wales)";

(iii) deleting the words "Bank of New Zealand" besides "C shares" and substituted with "Westpac Banking Corporation"; and

(iv) deleting the words "(formerly Bank of New South Wales)" besides the "B shares".

3. Section 9(1) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the words "thirty-first day of December" and substituted with the words "thirtieth day of September".

(i) tamate'i 'a e fo'i lea "'uluaki" 'i he laine 6;

(ii) tamate'i 'a e ngaahi fo'i lea "Pangike Fakavaha'apule'anga 'o Hauai'i" 'i he tafa'aki 'o e "'inasi A" pea fetongi 'aki 'a e "Kautaha Pangike Westpac (na'e hingoa ko e Pangike 'o Niu Sauele)";

(iii) tamate'i 'a e ngaahi fo'i lea "Pangike 'o Nu'usila" 'i he tafa'aki 'o e "'inasi C" pea fetongi 'aki 'a e "Kautaha Pangike Westpac"; pea

(iv) tamate'i 'a e ngaahi fo'i lea "(na'e hingoa ko e Pangike 'o Niu Sauele)" 'i he tafa'aki 'o e "'inasi E".

3. 'Oku fakatonutonu 'a e Kupu 9(1) 'o e Tefito'i Lao' 'aki hono tamate'i 'a e ngaahi fo'i lea "'aho 31 'o Tisema" pea fetongi 'aki 'a e ngaahi fo'i lea "'aho tolungofulu 'o Sepitema".
