AN ACT TO AMEND THE CONSTITUTION TO ENABLE MAGISTRATES TO BECOME CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICE HOLDERS.


ENACTED by the National Parliament of Solomon Islands.


CONSTITUTION (STATUS OF MAGISTRATES) (AMENDMENT) ACT 2014


Short title and commencement


1. This Act may be cited as the Constitution (Status of Magistrates) (Amendment) Act 2014 and shall commence on a date appointed by the Minister by notice in the Gazette.


Section 116 amended


2. Section 116(3) of the Constitution is amended by deleting paragraph (a) and substituting the following new paragraph –


"(a) The office of any judge of the High Court, the Court of Appeal or any Magistrate of the Magistrates’ Court;"
