28 August 1984

Excellency,

I have the honour to refer to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Nauru and the Government of New Zealand concerning Air Services done at Wellington on 5 August 1980, hereinafter referred to as the Agreement, and following the recent discussions on civil aviation matters between representatives of our two Governments, to propose pursuant Article XIV that the route schedule forming part of the Agreement to be amended as follows:

(a) by establishing two additional routes in Section 1 for the designated airline of New Zealand from

(i) points in New Zealand via the intermediate points of Niue and Tarawa to Nauru; and

(ii) points in the Cook Islands via the intermediate points of Pago Pago, Western Samoa and Tarawa to Nauru; and

(b) by rearranging the order of the intermediate points in the first route in Section 1 so that they shall be in the sequence Noumea, Vila, Honiara; and

(c) by heading the section containing the routes for the designated airline of Nauru “Section 2”, and establishing two additional routes in that section from

(i) Nauru via the intermediate points of Tarawa and Niue to Auckland; and

(ii) Nauru via the intermediate points of Tarawa, Western Samoa and Pago Pago to Rarotonga; and

(d) by amending the words “Port Vila” wherever they appear in route schedule to read “Vila”.

If the foregoing is acceptable to the Government of the Republic of Nauru, I have the honour to propose that this letter and your reply to that effect shall constitute an Agreement between our two Governments and that a revised route schedule in accordance with the above as annexed hereto shall replace that presently contained in Agreement to take the effect from the date of your reply.

Accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
