ARRANGEMENT OF SECTIONS.

INDEPENDENT STATE OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA.

AN ACT

entitled

National Court (Number of Judges) Act 1984,

Being an Act to implement Section 164 (composition of the National Court) of the Constitution by providing for the determination of the number of Judges of the National Court.

  1. INTERPRETATION.

In this Act, “Judge” does not include–

(a) the Chief Justice; or

(b) the Deputy Chief Justice; or

(c) an Acting Judge.

  1. NUMBER OF JUDGES.

The number of Judges of the National Court shall be not less than four and not more than the number, being not less than six, as is determined by the Head of State, acting with the advice of the National Executive Council, given after considering a report from the Chief Justice.
