Liquor Licensing (Trading Hours) Rules 1975

ARRANGEMENT OF SECTIONS.

Liquor Licensing (Trading Hours) Rules 1975

MADE under the Liquor (Licensing) Act 1963.

  1. APPLICATION.

Subject to Section 141 of the Act these Rules apply–

(a) throughout the whole of Papua New Guinea; and

(b) subject to Paragraph (c)–

(i) on each Government payday; and

(ii) on that same day of the alternate week; and

(c) where a day referred to in Paragraph (b) is a public holiday on the preceding day.

  1. PUBLICAN’S LICENCES.

Trading hours for premises the subject of a publican’s licence are–

(a) from noon to 1 p.m., and from 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.; and

(b) from noon to 2.30 p.m., and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. as part of a meal; and

(c) unrestricted in relation to lodgers or to bona fide travellers or to guests of lodgers for consumption on the premises.

  1. TAVERN LICENCES.

Trading hours for premises the subject of a tavern licence are from noon to 1 p.m., and from 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.

  1. CLUB LICENCES.

Trading hours for premises the subject of a club licence are–

(a) from noon to 1 p.m., and from 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.; and

(b) unrestricted in a residential club in relation to members who are lodgers, for consumption on the premises by those members or their guests; and

(c) from noon to 2.30 p.m., and from 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m., as part of a meal to members and their guests having a meal on the premises.

  1. STOREKEEPER’S AND BOTTLE-SHOP LICENCES.

There shall be no trading hours for premises the subject of a storekeeper’s licence or bottle-shop licence.

  1. VARIATION.

The Commission shall not approve a variation of the hours under Sections 2, 3 and 4.
