MADE under the Hire-purchase Act1966.

  1. VERIFICATION OF AUTHORITY BY SPOUSE.

A copy of an authority by the spouse of a hirer given for the purposes of Section 6(1)(d) of the Act shall be verified in writing, on the authority, in Form 1.

  1. DECLARATION AS TO LEGAL DISABILITY OF SPOUSE.

A declaration by a hirer as to the legal disability of his spouse, for the purposes of Section 6(1)(e) of the Act, shall be made in writing in Form 2 before a Justice or a Commissioner for Oaths.

  1. DECLARATION BY UNMARRIED HIRER.

A declaration by a hirer as to his not being married, for the purposes of Section 6(2)(b) of the Act, shall be in Form 3.

  1. PRESCRIBED LANGUAGES.

Tok Pisin and Hiri Motu are prescribed languages for the purposes of Section 52(2) of the Act.

  1. DECLARATION BY TRANSLATOR.

A declaration by the translator of a document under Section 52(3) of the Act shall be in Form 4.

  1. ADVICE AS TO RIGHT TO TRANSLATION.

(1) A person who enters or holds himself out to be ready to enter into or negotiate, as an owner or as a dealer, hire-purchase agreements, as the whole or part of his ordinary business shall display in a conspicuous position on his business premises where he enters or holds himself out to be ready to enter or negotiate hire-purchase agreements a notice in Form 5–

(a) in clear and legible handwriting; or

(b) in printing in type of a size not smaller than the type known as ten-point Times.

(2) Before a written statement is given to a hirer under Section 5(1) of the Act, the person giving the statement shall–

(a) read to the hirer the provisions of Form 5; or

(b) hand to him a written notice in Form 5.
