Defence (Visiting Forces) Vehicles Regulation 1976

MADE under the Defence (Visiting Forces) Act 1975.

  1. INTERPRETATION.

In this Regulation, unless the contrary intention appears–

“authorized officer” in relation to a visiting force, means the person appointed under Section 2 to be the authorized officer for that visiting force;

“the Superintendent” means the Superintendent of Motor Traffic appointed under the Motor Traffic Act 1950;

“vehicle” means any motor car, motor carriage, motor cycle, motor lorry, motor omnibus, motor tractor or other vehicle powered wholly or partly by any volatile spirit or by steam, gas, oil or electricity or by any means other than human or animal power but does not include any vehicle used on a railway or tramway, for the official use of a visiting force or a civilian component of a visiting force.

  1. NOTIFICATION OF VEHICLES.

(1) For the purposes of Section 34(2) of the Act, a visiting force shall appoint an officer to be its authorized officer for the purposes of this Regulation.

(2) The authorized officer shall, before any vehicle of the visiting force for which he is the authorized officer is used for official purposes, furnish particulars of each vehicle in Form 1 to the Superintendent.

  1. DESTRUCTION, ETC., OF VEHICLE.

Where a vehicle the property of a visiting force is–

(a) destroyed; or

(b) removed from the State; or

(c) sold; or

(d) otherwise disposed of,

the authorized officer shall promptly notify the Superintendent in Form 2.
