PUBLIC SERVICE (AMENDMENT) ACT 1975

AN ACT


To amend the Public Service Act 1961-1971


(Certified: 12th September, 1975)


Enacted by the Parliament of Nauru as follows:


SHORT TITLE


1. This Act may be cited as the Public Service (Amendment) Act 1975.


THE PRINCIPAL ACT


2. (1) The principal Act means the Public Service Act 1961-1971.


(2) The principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Public Service Act 1961-1975.


AMENDMENT OF SECTION 44 OF THE PRINCIPAL ACT


3. Section 44 of the principal Act is amended -


(a) by repealing subsection (1) thereof and inserting in lieu of that subsection (1) the following new subsection (1) –


"(1) Subject to this section, the following days are holidays in the Public Service –


1st January;


Independence Day, namely 31st January;


1st February;


Good Friday and the next following Monday and Tuesday;


Constitution Day, namely 17th May;


Angam Day, namely 26th October;


Christmas Day, namely 25th December;


26th December."; and


(b) by deleting from subsections (4), (5) and (6) thereof the words "Chief Secretary on the advice of the Cabinet" and by inserting in lieu thereof in each of those sub-sections the word "President".
