AN ACT TO AUTHORISE SUPPLEMENTARY APPROPRIATION OF MONIES OUT OF THE CONSOLIDATED FUND FOR RECURRENT EXPENDITURE FOR THE SERVICE OF THE YEAR ENDING 31ST 1983

Commencement: May, 1983

MADE by the Maneaba ni Maungatabu and assented to by the Beretitenti.

Short title

1. This Act many be cited as the Supplementary Appropriation (No 1) Act 1983.

Authorisation of issue of $34,000.00 from the Consolidated Fund

2. The issue from the Consolidated Fund is hereby authorised of $34,000.00 to be applied for recurrent expenditure to the service of the year ending on 31st December 1983.

Appropriation

3. The sum specified in Section 2 shall be appropriated for the supply of the Head of Expenditure specified in Column 1 of the Schedule annexed to this Act.

SUPPLEMENTARY APPROPRIATION ACT 1983

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

This Act charges upon the Consolidated Fund the sum of $15,000 being the balance required for financing the General Election 1983 and $19,000 for the administration of Kanton Island.

Such sums for such purposes were the subject of Contingency Warrants issued by the Council of State performing the functions of the Minister under S.9 of the Public Finance (Control and Audit) Ordinance, Chapter 79.

By virtue of S.9(3) of that Ordinance, such sums have to be included in a Supplementary Appropriation Act for appropriation, hence this Act.
