MAGISTRATE COURTS (AMENDMENT) ACT 1990


AN ACT TO AMEND SECTIONS 66, 67 AND 7 OF MAGISTRATE COURTS ORDINANCE (CAP. 52)

Short title


1; This Act may be cited as the Magistrate Courts (Amendment) Act, 1990:


Amends Sections 66; 67 and 75 of Ordinance


2. 66, 67 and 75 of the Magistrate Courts Ordinance are amended by repealing the phrase "21 days" in subsections (2) of sections 66 and 75 and in subsection (1) of section 67 and substituting the phrase "3 months",

Explanatory Memorandum


The purpose of this Act is to enlarge the limitation of an appeal from 21 days to 3 months so that an appellant who hasn't got enough cash for the courts fee and other related expenses may be able to feet the required amount within such a period.
